The Deterioration of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Situation in Afghanistan

On the 61st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Accountability Watch Afghanistan expresses its deepest concerns about the continued deterioration of the human rights and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. Since the last Council session in September 2025, the Taliban have intensified the enforcement of their brutal acts and policies that further consolidate a repressive system marked by oppression, institutionalised gender discrimination and ethno-religious rule.

Statement on Reports of the European Commission's Plan to Host Taliban from Afghanistan

On the European Commission's reported consideration of inviting a Taliban delegation

Accountability Watch Afghanistan is deeply concerned about reports that the European Commission is considering inviting a Taliban delegation for discussions regarding the deportation of Afghanistan's nationals from European Union countries to Afghanistan. Hosting a delegation from the Taliban regime runs counter to the EU's benchmarks for engagement with Afghanistan.
