Privacy Policy

AWA is committed to protecting personal information and limits access to authorized personnel. Where applicable by law, individuals may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, subject to security, legal, and documentation requirements. Only share information that you can safely disclose.

Accountability Watch Afghanistan collects only the information needed to document reported human rights violations, assess protection concerns, conduct responsible advocacy, respond to inquiries, and maintain secure correspondence.

Portal submissions may include identity and contact details, incident descriptions, locations, information about affected people and witnesses, and supporting evidence. People should submit only information they can safely disclose and should avoid unnecessary identifying details.

Submission records are stored in a restricted database. Supporting evidence is held in private storage and quarantined pending review. Access should be limited to authorized AWA personnel with a legitimate operational need.

AWA does not sell personal information. Information should not be disclosed outside AWA except where necessary for the stated work, with appropriate consent and risk assessment, or where legally required.

AWA should retain sensitive information only for as long as needed for documentation, protection, accountability, and legal obligations. Requests to access, correct, or delete information will be assessed against safety, evidentiary, and legal requirements.
